JEE Advanced 2019 date postpones due to general elections: Exam to be conducted on May 27

The National Testing Agency has postponed the exam date of JEE Advanced due to the General Elections. Earlier, NTA changed the exam schedule of the Joint Engineering Examination (JEE) Main exam. As per the revised schedule, JEE Advanced 2019 will now be conducted on May 27, 2019.

According to the official statement by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee - the institute responsible for conducting the entrance exam to IITs this year - will now conduct the JEE Advanced on May 27, 2019 (Monday) instead of May 19.
As per the official statement, "In view of the clash in the dates of JEE (Advanced) 2019 and the last phase of General Elections 2019, the examination date of JEE (Advanced) 2019 has been shifted to May 27, 2019 (Monday). The examination will be held in India and abroad, on May 27, 2019 (Monday), in the following two shifts: Paper 1 (09:00 to 12:00 IST) and Paper 2 (14:00 to 17:00 IST)."

JEE Advanced 2018: Complete details

  • The JEE Advanced 2018 was conducted by IIT Kanpur on May 20
  • This year, in JEE Advanced, as many as 1, 57,496 appeared for the first paper and 1, 55,091 made it to the second paper. Reports, however, suggest that a much lesser number of students appeared for the examination
  • Moreover, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur also released an extended merit list for JEE Advanced 2018 following the directions of HRD Ministry to issue a supplementary merit list for the exam. After the extended merit list was released, about 31,980 candidates qualified in JEE Advanced 2018.

Selection process:

Through JEE (Advanced), IITs offer admission into undergraduate courses leading to a bachelor's, integrated master's or bachelor-master dual degree in engineering, sciences, or architecture. Both bachelors and master's degrees are awarded to candidates enrolled in the dual degree programs upon successful completion of the course curriculum.
In a few of the IITs, students enrolled in the 4-year bachelor's programme have the option to convert to BTech (Honors) and/or BTech with Minors.
