A 21-year-old, Prachi Sukhwani, who lost her 80 per cent vision in class 3, has cracked one of the toughest entrance exams for MBA, i.e. Common Admission Test (CAT) by securing 98.55 percentile.

As reported by TOI, Prachi is suffering from macular dystrophy. It is a form of rare, genetic eye disorder that causes loss of vision. It affects the retina in the back of a person's eye.

Who is Prachi Sukhwani?

• A 21-year-old girl who is presently studying a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Maharaja Sayajirao University's Faculty of Commerce

• She has secured 98.55 percentile in CAT 2016

• She received calls from all the top three IIMs, IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Kolkata

• She is planning to open an NGO in future.

Family background:

• Her father Suresh Sukhwani is a businessman, while her mother Kanchan is a homemaker. Her sister Nishta is also doing an MBA from Mumbai-based private college

• Speaking to TOI, Prachi's father said, "But she is so engrossed in studies that she finds even those glasses to be an obstacle for her. She got calls from all the top three IIMs, IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Kolkata, and appeared for the interviews."

Her professor Sharad Bansal, dean of Faculty of Commerce praises her, saying "I have been associated with the BBA programme since its inception in 1993. But this is one of the proudest moments. Prachi deserves special applause for her success despite all odds. Her success is an inspiration for everybody."

Future plans:

"My short term goal is to join a company, preferably a multinational. Once I get some experience, I will have my own start-up. But my long term goal is to open an NGO for the blind."
